Emigration, the relations between Lithuania and the diaspora are topical and a much discussed issue these days. A look at the history of Lithuanians in the world is useful both for the purpose of a reasonable solution to these problems and for a better understanding of oneself, one's identity and the common past.

Beginning of studies: February, 2025
VDU World Lithuanian University invites teachers from Lithuanian and foreign Lithuanian-language schools to implement the informal diaspora education program, "Challenges of Lithuanian Identity and Family Stories," and participate in online program training sessions.
This program aims to strengthen Lithuanian identity by fostering children's ability to become explorers of their roots, connect major and minor narratives essential for shaping national identity, and understand both the history of Lithuanian dispersion worldwide and the current situation of the Lithuanian diaspora.
The program is implemented in practice over one or two academic years. Teacher training and assessments are conducted online.

The program is designed to comprehensively meet various needs for understanding Lithuanian culture and to accommodate different levels of Lithuanian language knowledge. Alongside lectures on Lithuanian grammar and practical skills development, significant focus is placed on sociolinguistic, sociocultural, and ethnocultural aspects, emphasizing the constant evolution of language and its use in diverse contexts and communicative situations.
All courses are conducted online, lasting from 3 weeks to 1 year. Upon successfully completing a chosen course, participants receive a certificate issued by Vytautas Magnus University.
