The lecture deals with the intellectual history of Lithuanians in South America, paying special attention to Argentina. Dr. Martín Parselis presents the life and activities of his father Ernest Parselis in the Lithuanian community in Argentina, joint works done together with the first Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Argentina Algimantas Rastauskas, Jurgis Gilvydzis and others.
E. Parselis was vice-rector of the Catholic University of Argentina, chairman of the Lithuanian Youth Congress held in Buenos Aires. 1991-1992 he participated in the preparation of the VII World Lithuanian Youth Congress. 1975-1978 he edited the ELTA magazine published in North America; 1990-1991 edited the magazine “Foro Baltico”. In 1968 edited and published the book “Lituania: historia, arte y cultura” (“Lithuania: history, art y culture”), which was widely used in teaching Lithuanian language and culture in Argentina and Brazil.
