The Golden Age of Venezuela Through Lithuanian Eyes: Gediminas Orentas’ Photography

2025-01-28

What have you heard about Lithuanians in Venezuela and the country itself? Perhaps you’re curious to learn how our compatriots settled in this exotic land after World War II? What natural, political, and economic challenges did they face, what businesses did they engage in, and when did this diaspora thrive the most?

These questions are addressed in the educational program “The Golden Age of Venezuela Through Lithuanian Eyes: Gediminas Orentas’ Photography” by Gabriel Orentas, a Venezuelan Lithuanian currently residing in Lithuania and the son of Gediminas Orentas.

The program features an exhibition of photographs by Gediminas Orentas, a Lithuanian photographer in Venezuela, capturing moments from the 1960s-70s. It also highlights the lives of the Lithuanian community in Venezuela during this period, recounts the phases of the community’s prosperity and decline, and explores the emerging community of Venezuelan Lithuanian repatriates in Lithuania today.
