“Pilgrims of the Heart” is an original documentary film created by the Chancellery of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Lithuanian Charter. The film was conceived and directed by Audronė Bielinienė, with cinematography by Robertas Zamaris, and with the assistance of Archbishop Lionginas Virbalas SJ, the delegate of the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference for the pastoral care of Lithuanian Catholics abroad. The project’s patron is Dalia Asanavičiūtė, Chairperson of the Seimas and the World Lithuanian Community Commission.

The film reflects the spirit of the Lithuanian Charter, which sustained Lithuanian identity in the past and remains alive today. A total of 45 people from Lithuania, the USA, Argentina, France, and Poland shared their life stories, including President Valdas Adamkus, Cardinal Audrys Juozas Bačkis, prominent members of the Lithuanian-American community such as Juozas Polikaitis, Marija and Saulius Čyvas, Vytautas Maciūnas, Canadian-Lithuanian writer Antanas Šileika, Gintė Damušis, the daughter of Adolph Damušis, the founder of the Lithuanian-American “Dainava” Camp, Rasa Mauragis, Chairperson of the Lithuanian Community in Australia, Perkūnas Liutkus, son of interwar diplomat Antanas Liutkus, and others. The film also touches on the issue of the Ukrainian diaspora, and the role of the Seimas and the World Lithuanian Community Commission in helping unite Ukraine’s growing and war-torn diaspora, as well as the Commission’s support for the global Lithuanian diaspora over the past three decades.
